SUMMARY OF THE 2008 RACE SEASON

2008 SCORE INTERNATIONAL SERIES

The 2008 race season has ended and our team had an incredible season. We brought home the class championship in Class 20 ( 250 Pro division) in the SCORE International off road racing series. We became the first all women's team on motorcycles to ever win a class championship in the motorcycle division, racing against all male competitor's.

They pushed hard, rode smart and things just came together. The first 2 races of the year were ridden by Anna Cody, Sarah Kritsch, Cathy Carter Duncan & Stacy Doerkson. For the 2nd half of the season Jennifer Morton & Tricia Lane joined Anna, Cathy & Sarah finishing out the season by racing the Baja 1000 the final round.

As the team went into the 2008 Baja 1000, the pressure was really on, we had to finish this race to capture the year end championship, there was no room for error or mechanical failure. Team leader Anna Cody had broken her arm in 15 places on Sept 29, as rider of record she had to at least start the race. Anna started the race riding down the street and handed the bike off to Sarah Kritsch, who than took over. The team handed the bike off to each other for the next 20+ hours crossing the finish line in Ensenada somewhere around 3am, making race history once again.

The team raced aboard a Honda CRF 250x, built by the teams mechanic, Eric Siraton. The bike worked flawlessly all year long thanks to the fine mechanical work by Eric, he spent many hours working on the teams bike to ensure that there were no DNF's. We could not have had a more perfect season.

2008 BEST IN THE DESERT SERIES

Anna Cody & Tricia Lane raced a Honda CRF 450x prepped by Eric Siraton in the BITD series held in the Nevada desert. The first half of year proved to be somewhat challenging but things really started coming together after Vegas to Reno. Vegas to Reno is the longest off road race in the United States, it was a tough day for Anna, Tricia and Sarah. The team had to overcome so many unbelievable obstacles, from crashes, mechanical problems, broken radiators, sad memories, flat tires to an exhausted pit crew as they finally finished the race near Dayton, NV sometime around 11:30pm.

Having concurred that race, Anna and Tricia were ready for what ever the Nevada desert had to throw at them, the next race was the Billik 300 held near Mesquite, NV. The day could not have been more perfect, Anna brought the bike to Tricia at pit one 17th over all. At pit 2 Tricia had moved up to 15th overall. The two worked as a tag team changing at every pit. Anna got on for her last 40 miles and than Tricia was planning to take the bike to the finish. Anna was in about 1 mile of the pit where her and Tricia were going to make their last rider change of the day.

Anna was traveling at a high rate of speed when she failed to see a huge mound in the middle of the course until it was too late, hitting it caused the bike to flip over in the air with her still on slamming her to the ground with no chance of being able to get away from the bike. Knocked unconscious, the face of her helmet broken from the impact, a huge gash on the inside of her mouth and an elbow broken into 15 pieces. Some local people witnessed the crash, thinking they would be of help they dragged her off the course taking off her helmet, not the best thing for someone the very well could of had back or neck injuries.

Just about that time, on the highway above the course, an emergency medical worker noticed all of the commotion going on and decided to stop, coming to Anna's aid. They were able to put her in the back of a truck driving down to the hospital, which just happened to be about 1 mile away. The first thing Anna remembers is waking up in the hospital with Tricia and Denise standing by her side. The Dr. announced that the elbow was blown into pieces and was going to require sugary, which left very little hope for Anna to be able to ride to far in the up coming Baja 1000.

The last race of the season was the Henderson 250, held in Henderson, NV, Anna was sidelined as she watched her teammates Sarah and Tricia race, they went into this last race with a battle for 1 in class, the points were very close, Tricia started the race having a good battle with the guy we were racing against for the championship. Sarah took over only to have the motor on the bike seize, causing the teams 1st DNF of the year due to mechanical failure. All and all the team ended up finishing the series up in 2ND place.
