After 1,056 miles to the finish line in La Paz, Mexico - Anna commented that she just kept thinking of her teammate from previous rides in the Baja - Lillie Sweetland, which helped her to make it to the finish line.

In Annas' mind, she knew she had to finish - because not finishing meant having another go at it until she accomplished her Goal.

Live News Update—November 17, 2006 - The Race is in Full Swing!

10 a.m. - November 17, 2006

Due to the lack of communications resources, no previous News could be transmitted. This information was relayed via telephone at 10:00 a.m. Live from the course.

Since 6:30 a.m. Anna has completed about 880 miles with 170 miles to go. Anna is doing well. She stopped for an hours break with 2 additional 20 minute breaks because of heavy traffic, and the Dune Buggies were starting to trail her.

This is one of the roughest Bajas because of the recent Hurricane Damage to the lcoal area.
Annas' brother Quinn came in first place for his group sometime after midnight last night.

There's possibly one other rider who has finished, Bobby Laughlin ( X-5 ) from Ballard CA. Reports are unclear whether he's actually finished though, due to a small accident where his miffler was damaged. Without time to repair the muffler, he continued to ride on.
As of 10 A.M., Friday morning Nov. 17, after 26.5 hours of race-time the expectation is that Anna will be finished in about 5 hours.

According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, Bobby Gordon and 19 Year Old Andy McMillin teamed to win the 39th Baja 1000.
The weather has been very Hot, and the conditions very rough for the riders and the vehicle drivers. With no Internet access in the Mexico Desert, the information posted here was relayed via telephone by Connie Cody live from the Course.

Connie, who is Annas' Mother has been fulfilling the position as Publicist and has also joined Annas' Team in the Chase Crew. More News regarding Annas' Race will be posted here as it becomes available.
