2007 Score Baja 500

We successfully competed and completed the Baja 500 on June 2, 2007. We raced in the pro class 21 finished 14th in class against 29 all male teams, we were the only all woman team entered in the race on motorcycles. After careful planning and working out the logistics our team was good to go.

Anna started the race and rode to Valley De Trinidad where Jennifer took over, riding the Mikes Sky ranch loop and back down to Valley De Trinidad where she handed the bike off to Stacy, who took it out to the coast and up to Uruapan, where Anna road the last leg to the finish line in Ensenada. The day went great for the team finishing ahead of the race trucks and well before dark.
All Women Team racing the Baja 500

April 2007 We currently are preparing for racing the Baja 500 on June 2. The exciting news is that we have formed an all-woman team. We are racing a Pro Honda Oil & Chemical backed CRF Honda 450X, the newest, dominating motorcycle of the Baja.

Thirty-four-year-old Stacy Doerkson of Apple Valley, Ca and 37-year-old Jennifer Morton of Escondido, Ca are my two teammates for this year’s Baja. We are excited about this race and look forward to a strong finish.

Stacy Doerkson spent 2006 helping me prepare for the Baja 1000. She learned a lot about Baja while working with me, so it seemed fitting to have her ride the Baja 500. Stacy’s dad, Don Doerkson, was at one time a regular SCORE competitor.

Stacy is no stranger to motorcycles, she competes in many District 37 events and has worked as a District 37 steward volunteering her time the past few years.

We were in need of one more rider and we had to go to the drawing board on this one. Its difficult finding a team member with enough experience to handle the dangerous obstacles Baja can throw at you; many times its not about holding it wide open, the team needs to have riders who are strong and able to use common sense while racing an uncontrolled environment like Baja.

I wrote down the names some potential riders and went one by one, scratching names off for one reason or another, until I came to Jennifer Morton. We were elated when Jennifer accepted our invitation to become part of our team.

Jennifer rides in Baja with her husband, Tim Morton who owns and operates Baja Bound, an off-road Baja adventure touring company that hosts rides in Baja.
Jennifer started riding with her brother and father in the local desert at the age of six. Growing up she spent a lot of time in Baja; her brother races motorcycles in Baja and her father has raced cars in Baja.

We are all three excited and are looking forward to a good race at this year’s SCORE Baja 500 aboard our Honda 450X, backed by Honda Pro Oil & Chemicals, SLIME, BRP, FMF, IMS, GPR, Precision Concepts, Team Caveman and Thousand Oaks Honda, & Baja Bound Adventures
